Is Chiropractic the Right Choice for Your Pregnancy?

prenatal massagePregnancy puts a huge strain on the body—which means it’s more important now than ever to give your body the attention it needs. Chiropractic care is effective in relieving low back pain and sciatica, common in later trimesters.

Whether your spine is out of alignment or the baby is pressing up against a key nerve, we can help alleviate pain and bring your pelvis into balance so you feel great again.

Relieve Discomfort Naturally

As early as the 1940s, orthopedic studies have demonstrated that chiropractic is effective in relieving back pain for expecting moms. It usually only takes a few adjustments to turn pain into maximum comfort.

Many variables determine which approach we’ll use. Dr. Cutsinger will start by discussing your health history, including whether you’ve been adjusted in the past, what techniques were used, and how your body responded to care. If you haven’t had any problems with traditional adjustments, we’ll likely use hands-on manipulations. Our care may include neck adjustments, as well, as most cases of low back pain are influenced by upper cervical problems.

For women new to chiropractic, we’ll use extremely gentle instrument-assisted and drop techniques. We always put your safety first. During your consultation, we do a careful examination and check for any contraindications or complications that may affect care.

Keeping You and Your Baby Safe

Please bring in any previous spinal X-rays or MRIs you’ve had done, since we don’t do imaging on pregnant patients.

After you’ve given birth and recovered your strength, it’s a good idea to return for a reexamination and X-rays. Whether you’re in pain now or want care again during a future pregnancy, this is a great opportunity to do a thorough exam and imaging, so we have a point of reference we can use later.
